Tenth Sunday After Pentecost

Enhance your online worship experience

Whether you’re a first-time online visitor or a life-long member, we welcome and celebrate the ways you enrich our collective worship of a scattered yet gathered Children of God. As we begin our service, we invite you to light a candle, just as we do in the prelude during our in-person worship. Our two altar candles symbolize that Christ was both a human being and God. A light being carried into the world shows that Jesus Christ is for all people - everywhere. Just as a the acolyte carries the lighted candlelight into the congregation, the light symbolizes the light of Jesus Christ preceding us into the world where we as the church are to serve.

Call to Worship

Inspired by Genesis 22: 1-14; Micah 6:8; Deuteronomy 6:5

One: What does the Lord require of you?
Many: To do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with our God.
One: What does God command of us?
Many: To love God with all our heart, and all our soul, and all our mind, and all our strength, and to love our neighbor as ourselves.
One: God does not call us to ease or to comfort.
Many: But to presence, and abundance, and grace in our struggle.
One: Let us worship the God who believes in us, and trusts in us and abides with us.
Many: Let us worship the God who will ask much of us, but will be beside us every step of the way.
