π© Pastor, Parament Quilter to Highlight March Womenβs Meeting
On Tuesday, March 12 at noon, the United Women in Faith, formerly the United Methodist Women, will meet at the church.
The guest speaker for March will be Alycia Johnson, the designer and creator of our green paraments that graced our sanctuary during Epiphanytide. If you recongize the name, Alycia was a guest preacher at Mars Hill during Advent 2021.
About Alycia
Alycia Johnson grew up in Brazil, the daughter of missionary parents. She returned to the US to finish high school and go to college. She graduated from Taylor University in 1979, and from Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary in 1983. She was ordained an elder in the Wisconsin Conference of the United Methodist Church in 1987.
She served a 3-point charge in Wisconsin and recently as a part-time pastor in Barnardsville and Pleasant Gap. She most recently was the chaplain at Brooks-Howell Home.
Alycia is also an artist, creating paraments for churches, as well as painting silk scarves.
Alycia is married to Mandel Johnson, and is mother to one daughter, Mylah, who just graduated from Hollins University. She also has 1 dog (Opie), 2 cats (Pepper and Jaxon) and a snake (Maizy).
Her hobbies include vegetable gardening and photography.
