Assistant Chaplain from Mars Hill University to Preach October 8

Serena McMillan, Ph.D., Assistant Chaplain at Mars Hill University will preach on October 8 at Mars Hill United Methodist Church. We are excited to welcome Dr. McMillan to our pulpit and further our relationship with the University.

About Dr. McMillan, Assistant Chaplain at Mars Hill University

A Weaverville native, Serena McMillian is currently serving her alma mater as Assistant Chaplain.

Dr. McMillian’s academic studies have taken me from a bachelor's degree in Religion and Philosophy from Mars Hill College/University to a master's in New Testament from Emmanuel Christian Seminary, to a terminal master's and doctor of philosophy in Hebrew Bible and the Ancient Near East at Vanderbilt University.

In addition to working as a chaplain at Mars Hill University, she teaches courses like Eden to Exile (an Old Testament introduction), Jesus and the Idea of Jesus, and Women and Religion. Outside of work. she enjoys spending time with friends/family, baking, hiking, yoga, playing piano, a variety of intellectual pursuits, and playing with my dog Nova.
