πͺ Girl Scout Sunday to be Celebrated During Worship on March 10
During our 9:45 am worship on Sunday (remember to set your clocks FORWARD one hour!), we will celebrate Girl Scout Sunday with the Troop responsible for creating our Little Free Food Pantry Ministry.
After hearing a sermon from the Rev. Drew Nix, please plan to remain after the service to fellowship with the local Girl Scout Troop and their leader, Amanda Garcia, as we celebrate our partnership and ministry. We will enjoy Girl Scout Cookies - yes, cookies and punch.
About Girl Scout Sunday
At the heart of Girl Scouting are many of the same values our faith holds:
Supporting girls
Making our world a better place
Building compassionate leaders
Girl Scout Sunday celebrates the powerful ties between Girl Scouting and faith. Girl Scouts are encouraged to connect their faith to the Girl Scout Law and earn the religious recognitions of their faith. Letβs honor the Girl Scouts and adult volunteers who give their time and talents in service of others! Visit girlscouts.org/faith for more information.
Girl Scouts' Birthday
Girl Scouting was founded on March 12, 1912, by Juliette Gordon Low in Savannah, Georgia. Low gathered 18 girls from her cousinβs school and broke the conventions of the timeβreaching across class, cultural, and ethnic boundaries to ensure all girls, including those with so-called disabilities, had a place to grow and develop their leadership skills.
Girl Scout Week
Girl Scout Week is celebrated each March, starting with Girl Scout Sunday and ending with Girl Scout Sabbath on a Saturday, and it always includes Girl Scoutsβ birthday, March 12. It is a time when Girl Scout shout pride from the rooftops!
