Mars Hill to Honor the Legacy of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King with Breakfast, Hike on January 16

Beginning with a community breakfast, hike and peace march, our community plans to honor and remember the legacy of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Community MLK Breakfast at Mars Hill University

On January 16 at 8 am, Mars Hill University will host a Community Breakfast honoring of the legacy of Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr.

The cost is $8.50 in Mars Hill University’s Pittman Dining Hall Coloring activities will be provided for children attending.


MLK Day Hike

All are invited to to celebrate the legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. with a group hike up Bailey Mountain and a reading of his famous last “I’ve Been to the Mountaintop” 1968 speech.

Monday, January 16, 2023 at 1 pm departing from trailhead at Bailey Mountain Preserve 889 Forest St. Mars Hill, North Carolina

Allow 3 hours for the hike, rated moderate. Wear layers and bring water.


January 16 Peace March & Rally in Asheville

A Peace March and Rally will be held in Asheville on Monday, January 16 at 11:30 am.
