🤟Haywood Street Congregation - Our November Mission of the Month

Haywood Street Congregation, our November Mission of the Month, is an urban United Methodist ministry in Asheville that seeks to include and prioritize those in the community who are often overlooked, homeless, outcast, sick, and untouchable. Its ministry began with a simple mission – to include the most excluded. It now provides respite care for those discharged from a hospital stay, and the welcome table offers lunch and an opportunity for worship on Wednesdays. It also allows community members to be ‘companions’ in the ministry.

They have continued to provide services to the community during the recovery from Hurricane Helene. Water has returned to the building; however, until it becomes potable, Wednesday meals will remain in the parking lot. The building is open for bathrooms, rest, warming, and worship. Respite services are continuing to help those in need of respite care.

How to Support Our Mission of the Month

At this time, they are accepting a limited list of material supplies: Lysol wipes, Scott Shop Towels, Zip Lock Bags, Individual drinks (soda cans, juice boxes, etc.), Disposable coffee cups, Twin size sheet sets/comforters, Blankets, and Foam mattress pads.

If you would like to help support this growing ministry meeting a huge need in our community, write a check to the church and mark it in the Memo line for “Haywood Street.”
